Commissioner Clash Over Public Utilities Data Credibility
At a PUC hearing on telephone service, Commissioner Ralph Winter and Flyria Telephone Co. equipment superintendent Joseph Fordham sparred over fault records. Winter argued Fordham’s figures misrepresent subscriber complaints while Fordham said records reflect actual faults, noting weather, heavy loads, and subscriber mistakes affect service. New witnesses echoed concerns as Winter pressed that any customer trouble call should be recorded, while Fordham maintained daily fault registers show full detail and that busy signals due to in-use lines are not faults.
