Rhodes calls session on Medicaid crisis in Ohio
Governor Rhodes announces a special session of the General Assembly to address a Medicaid funding crisis after lawmakers failed to resolve the appropriation. He cites March warnings by Deputy Director Kennan and others that current funding would not cover Medicaid expenses, risking program loss without action. The Legislature had recessed June 1 after passing a $160 million supplemental bill, with Rhodes vetoing several sections.
