The 16th Geneva anniversary saw a rocket attack on Saigon the first in over two months and US B52 raids along the DMZ. Casualties included one American dead and nine wounded. Fighting flared in eight Cambodian areas with 69 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong reported killed near Svay Rieng and around Phnom Penh. A Marine helicopter mishap south of Da Nang destroyed 22 houses, and five American helicopters were shot down nationwide, with four Americans killed and 11 wounded.
Aztec Chemical Co. remains under scrutiny as Elyria Municipal Court delays the nuisance hearing to August 4. Attorney Raymond Miraldi filed a motion claiming the city's affidavit is inadequate, while City Prosecutor Garrett Murray prepares a counter brief. Judge Frank Wilcox will review briefs on that date.

A 41 year old Elyria woman Ruth Love died after a one vehicle crash on Lorain Road in North Ridgeville. Paul Harris 30 Elyria drove the vehicle that skidded into a utility pole while heading to Cleveland Hopkins for a North Carolina vacation. Harris survived with a cut forehead and other injuries. Police continue to investigate the crash as Lorain County records note a fatality this year. Funeral arrangements are with Carter Funeral Home Lorain.
Lorain County commissioners plan to place two levies on the November ballot to fund the Mental Health program and the Mentally Retarded program. The Mental Health board seeks 5 mills for five years and the Mentally Retarded board seeks 1 mill for five years for construction and operation. Both levies mirror last year’s proposal, which was defeated.

Coast Guard and U.S. and Canadian planes probe sea fog for the Aeroflot Antonov 22 missing after refueling at Keflavik en route to Halifax. Authorities count 23 or 24 aboard with eight planeloads of aid sent to Lima. The aircraft vanished about 288 miles southwest of Iceland over the Labrador Sea.
