Nixon plans Asia tour focusing on postwar security roles
President Nixon will depart from the capital Tuesday on a trip to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. The White House says he aims to hear Asian ideas on regional security and economic cooperation, seek area security mechanisms, and avoid new commitments. In Romania he will discuss East West relations as a sign of improving ties, while in Thailand and the Philippines he will address maternal security against Communist guerrillas and the American military presence. Talks in India and Pakistan will cover U S aid policy and reestablishing relations with the new government there.
