America’s health rise hidden in aging population decline
Public health findings show death rates drop 32.2 percent age adjusted since 1960 and 47.2 percent since 1940, driven by fewer heart attacks and strokes. Dr. Mortimer credits blood pressure control and diet while cancer, despite declines, rises due to lung cancer. The trend continues beyond 1981 with ongoing improvements and slower future gains.
