A fragment from a humorous column and a tale of a vigilante hangings scene. It mentions a landlady, a bell to signal gas and car payments, two horse thieves to be hanged, and a quip about borrowing $500 and courage. Dr. C N Chrisman explains how unseasonable weather triggers inflammatory urinary troubles. Cystitis arises from irritated bladder walls, sometimes following a cold, and can involve kidneys or urethra. Bacteria in blood may settle in the bladder, causing ulceration and pain. Retention at the bladder neck can worsen infection and waste buildup.
The article explains that many cases labeled as kidney trouble actually originate in the bladder. It describes ammonia irritation from decomposition, the need for chemical exams to locate trouble, and how acidity or alkalinity and pus affect treatment. It recommends bladder flushing with alkaline waters, antiseptic acids, bed rest for organic inflammation, and careful diet to aid recovery.
