Agencies Are Contacted For Bridge Funds
Preliminary action in Lorain County to obtain a federal grant for a new bridge at Lorain was taken by county state and federal officials. Congressman Don W. Harter said he has contacted the War Department the Bureau of Public Roads and the WPA to learn potential funding. The county commissioners urged a new traffic survey of the East Erie Avenue draw bridge to support the request. A similar survey was done last summer at the Lorain bridge, but officials expect heavier traffic this year and seek current figures for Washington. The State Highway Department would assist with surveys and possibly plans once funding levels are known.
