Wellington Eyes Return of Nuisance Law
Wellington considers reactivating its chronic nuisance ordinance after letting it lapse. The 2016 rule allowed charging property owners when police visited an address three or more times in 12 months for violations such as drug use, disorderly conduct, gambling, sanitation issues, sex work, alcohol offenses, and domestic violence. Police say the measure helped target long standing problems and avoid confrontations.
