Children Services seeks 1.5 mill levy renewal with boost
Elyria Lorain County Children Services asks voters on November ballot for a 1.5 mill renewal with a 0.3 mill increase. The levy currently raises about 8.7 million of a 17 million budget. officials say funding cuts since 2009 mean the levy cannot restore all lost money, but will fund mandated services and meet community needs. The agency projects about 10.7 million in 2016 if approved, with a $45.96 annual home tax rising to $56.52 at a 100 000 home. County officials also consider levies for a Crime Lab and Lorain County Transit as transit levies have been rejected.
