Elyria Schools Expect Aid Drop Despite Stimulus Funds
Elyria district treasurer Fred Stephens says state aid will fall about 1 percent in 2010 and 0.75 percent in 2011 versus 2009, while about 3.9 million in federal Title 1 and special education stimulus money will support reading and services for low income and disabled students. Officials project a $2.1 million surplus in 2012 but a $4.9 million shortfall in 2013, as real estate valuation cuts loom and tax revenue declines across Ohio.
