Ted Turner aims for a broadcast network despite vast media empire
Turner, 45, owner of WTBS, CNN, and Turner networks, says he still wants a broadcast network one day. He envisions more made for TV movies and miniseries, less violent fare, expanded sports, and aims to boost WTBS reach to 70 percent of homes by 1989. He criticizes the Big Three for short term gains, and notes WTBS profits rely on CNN and cable operations.
