Ohio crop prospects look favorable with higher corn and wheat output expected. Frequent rains delayed planting and harvesting in the northeast, but soybeans, barley, rye, sugar beets, and hay show improvement and acreages rise. Potato prospects are somewhat lower than 1941. overall corn stocks on Ohio farms July 1 total 35,032,017 bushels, up 70 percent from last year.
Funeral services for Howard D Cook former president of the National Tube Co who died Thursday will be held at his home in Cook Street at 10 A M Saturday. Interment details are not provided.
Forty one children were examined and ten new cases discovered at the regular semi monthly Crippled Children's clinic at Gates Hospital this morning. Dr C M W Hyman of Cleveland and Dr F A Lawrence of Elyria examined the children with Miss Howell and Miss Lehman assisting observers noted the exams.

In Upper Sandusky Ohio on July 17 Melen Marte Moser and Wauaairr were killed when a wagon wheel failed. Clay Himer and others reported the incident. An Akron Daily News employee covering Teedith Tur & Mubket Co noted the deadly accident occurred as the wagon toppled.

Corporal Willan Schmid of Highland's Company 0, a Sullivan native, died on duty in the Southwest Pacific around July 11. He married Virginia Pener, a Sullivan High School graduate, on June 20, 1947. Schmid served since October 21, 1940, was promoted to corporal in 1941, discharged briefly in November 1941 for age, then recalled for further service.
The Rev WL Burner returns to preach at Christ Church Elyria on Sunday July 26. Rev Hytner previously led the church for several years and many in the community will welcome him back. Mrs Burnet will accompany him to Elyria for the service. Nev Mat Mangty Kan will preach with Warren at the morning service.
