Man charged after assaulting girl on bicycle dispute
Lorain police charged 40-year-old Kurt B. Vandyke with felonious assault and related counts after he knocked a 15-year-old girl from her bike on East Erie Avenue at about 9:50 p.m. His son Christopher B. Vandyke, 19, faced resisting arrest and obstructing official business as officers used force to restrain him. The incident began when Kurt claimed the bike belonged to his son and demanded the girl surrender it, leading to a confrontation that included slapping, choking, and property damage. The 13-year-old girl with the victim was present, and a bystander, Richard D. Harrold, intervened before police arrived. The aunt planned hospital transport for the injured teen.
