U S Trials close on winning notes
Jenny Thompson and Larsen Jensen closed the U S Trials with wins in the final two races in Long Beach. Thompson claimed the 50-meter freestyle, earning another Olympic spot and marking a record for U S women’s medals, while Jensen set an American mark in the 1 590 free. The meet highlighted strong U S depth ahead of Athens and the lure of a $1 million bonus for a gold and world record.
