Jazz signs Boozer six-year offer sheet worth 68 million
Utah Jazz vice president Kevin O'Connor defends the team’s decision to sign Carlos Boozer to a six-year 68 million offer sheet, saying there was no mistake and Boozer saw an opportunity. Cavaliers had expected Boozer to sign for 41 million over six years after not picking up a contract option, but Utah offered 27 million more. The dispute drew national criticism, agent Rob Pelinka stepped back, and Cleveland pursued a one-year 85 million option that would have allowed matching rights after 2004 05. Boozer, linked with Olympic talk, appears bound for Utah, with center Mehmet Okur also signing a six-year 50 million sheet.
