Diehards vote against Carter at Democratic Convention
At the New York Democratic Convention a small group of diehards largely opposed Carter. Joe Krupa of Marquette voted Wallace, citing loyalty and fears over amnesty welfare health care and jobs. Dr Burton White a Jewish physician backed Carter reluctantly while voicing concerns about his stance on Jews and the Soviet Union. Bert Coffey of California supported Brown with hopes for unity but had doubts about Carter. Leo Lalonde of Aurora Mina cast a protest vote against abortion and against Carter.
