Settlement reached in gas line rupture in Wellington Township
Wellington Township settles with Sunoco Logistics on the six month anniversary of a large fuel spill. The township receives 13000 for use of its building during cleanup and 500 monthly as Sunoco checks monitoring wells on township property. The rupture occurred under the township building parking lot and released about 116700 gallons of gasoline overnight January 12 13 west of Route 58 near Brookside Drive. Sunoco funded lot repaving by Denes Concrete and also paid 2500 toward a power washer replacement. Wellington village earlier received 25000. Denes Concrete to perform final dredging and grading of White Ditch in coming weeks.

NOACA funds extend Lorain to Elyria park trail
Federal money approved by NOACA will finance a 2.07 mile segment of the Black River trail from Lorain to Elyria, costing 1.65 million with 80 percent federal funding. The project runs along Colorado Avenue near Henderson Memorial Bridge, planned for fall 2013 bid and 2014 completion. A 1.2 mile section near the Elyria Police Station follows, with bids this year and completion in early 2013.

Route 58 crash kills Mansfield rider in Ohio
Mansfield man Braden Wert, 59, died in a Route 58 motorcycle crash near New London Eastern Road Friday at about 5 15 a.m. He failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, struck a ditch and fence, was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene. Wert was not wearing a helmet. Investigation ongoing.
