Columbia hears two rezoning requests at Thursday hearing
Two rezoning proposals were presented to the township Zoning Commission with public hearings set for Thursday August 2 at 8 p.m. at Town Hall. George and Margaret Turney seek to rezone their 5.8 acre Squires Road property from recreational to residential to align with the area, while James and Barbara Violi seek residential to highway business for a Route 82 strip between South Boone Road and Cayuga Drive. About 20 parcels with 15 homes are in the Violi proposal. The board agreed to work with the U.S. Soil Conservation Department to develop codes to stop soil erosion. Board chair Wallace Wendt will guide material for consideration.
