Six year old Orval Rose Jr of Wasnesville Warren County is reported as the first polio case of the year. He was taken to Vermami Valley Hospital in Dayton on Wednesday for treatment.

Entries show mothers with babies and a long roster of patients, with several birth announcements such as a son to Mr and Mrs Ben Caserta and a son to Mr and Mrs Richard Shoemaker.
Lorain police seek a motorist whose car struck Lupe Martinez 28 and left the scene. Martinez was treated at St Joseph Hospital for a left thigh contusion and released. Witnesses noted a eastbound car on Vine Avenue turned onto East 30th Court, struck Martinez and knocked him into the street. The car’s license number was given to police. it was issued to James Hunter, who had moved from 1597 East 29th Street. Police followed leads to an Adaive address but did not find him.
