National Demo Congressmen Push National Presidential Primary
Fifty three Democratic lawmakers urge the party to insert a plank for a national presidential primary in the 1952 platform. They argue it would let the people pick nominees and curb backroom dealing highlighted by recent convention events. The petition, including Sen Estes Kefauver and reps Bennett Zablocki and Emanuel Celler, was delivered to Rep John McCormack.
