Bible education groups eye Lorain County schools
LifeWise Academy, a Christian nonprofit, seeks to place Bible based classes in public schools during school hours. Founded in 2018 by Joel Penton, the group began in districts in 2019 and now targets Firelands and Black River in Lorain County, with Firelands Elementary School set to start for grades one to four this fall.

Victim approves Brady Cook plea deal in Lorain case
Brady Cook, 19, formerly of Elyria Catholic, was sentenced in Lorain County for taking advantage of a 16 year old with sexual conduct. He received six months in jail, followed by six months of house arrest and five years on probation. He is a Tier II sex offender required to register every 180 days for 25 years and to complete a sex offender program. He must abstain from alcohol until age 21 and avoid contact with the victim.

Elyria sets mural by Project Ready students on Broad Street
Fifty three students from Elyria and Avon schools and early college join Lorain County Urban League Project Ready to design and paint a mural at 354 Broad St. Planning Commission approved the design on July 2. The new piece titled A Place to be Yourself will depict Elyria sights and include College Career Social 4Plus4 and replace the Before I Die mural.
