Ride Costs Lorain Man Dearly After Robbery

Gest and Davis and the Lorain man at 1354 Broad Way report four men robbed him of 109 dollars Saturday night. They allegedly met at Havana Gardens, took a ride, were stopped on Route 57, a knife was held to his neck, and he was forced to surrender money before being dumped from the car.

Elyria Boy Ties Fast Soap Box Derby Time in Early Round

A 12 year old Elyria resident matched the fastest 2.4 second course time in an early round of Cleveland's soap box derby. Strongsville’s 13 year old won the championship with the same time in the final. Joseph Bender of 205 Columbia avenue reached the semi finals before elimination as about 40 000 spectators watched at Garfield Heights.

Three Hurt In Truck Tire Blowout Crash On Route 113

A tire blowout on a Barricelli Company truck at 5 p m yesterday near the Route 113 overpass caused a collision that damaged two autos and injured three people. John F Polgar, his wife Marian and daughter Carol were treated and released from Elyria Memorial Hospital. Albert Rhoden and truck driver Eaton Howze were examined. Rhoden’s car rolled onto its roof but all involved were unharmed beyond minor injuries.

Three Men Questioned Over Lorain Killings

Lorain police detained three men for questioning after two killings Saturday and Sunday night. Manuel Pimental, 45, was shot at Bar-X Cafe on Vine Avenue at 9 20 p m. Witnesses heard Spanish exchange before the shot. Juan Duran Marquez, 23, was found dead from stab wounds at 1962 East 29th Street early Sunday. Police said no link between the two deaths.

Signs Of Missing Airliner Sparks Wake Island Search

Debris including a life raft and foam cushions were found about 325 miles east of Wake Island from a Trans Ocean airliner missing since Sunday. Auto and Deer Collision on Griggs Road Near Findlay Forest

Arthur Swickard of Akron lost control on Griggs Road off Route 58 near Findlay Forest after a 125 pound doe darted onto the road early Saturday. His car suffered hood and radiator damage and was towed. the deer was killed and turned over to county investigators.
