German workers become wage serfs under Nazism says Knox
Chicago Daily News publisher Frank Knox reports Germany's labor plight after four years of Nazi rule with wages collapsed since 1928. A lino typist earns about 340 dollars yearly, taxed to 444.60, living frugally in two rooms, leaving little for family. Unskilled workers fare worse as unions vanish and the Labor Front promises 20 years of privation.
