LCCC seeks renewal in Nov for expanded University Partnership levy
Lorain County Community College trustees voted unanimously to place the expiring 10 year University Partnership levy on the November ballot with a 0.6 mill increase to raise about 12 million annually. The 1.5 mill levy currently brings 9 million and the increase would add roughly 3 million, costing a $100000 home about 21 dollars more per year. The funds back a direct pathway program enabling degrees from 12 colleges without leaving Lorain County, started in 1995 and serving thousands yearly. President Roy Church says growth is needed as jobs increasingly require postsecondary education and census data show Lorain County progress in educational attainment.
