Oberlin Dairy Safe Recovered From River
A small steel safe stolen July from Parsons Dairy on Route 10 Oberlin was found Saturday in the Black River near West Road about a mile south of Parsons Road. The safe lay half submerged after being pried open. John Farrar and Pauline Gutman spotted it while walking along the river. Police noted the exposed door and main portion near the tank, with some cash missing totaling $36.10.

Trapped Boy Dies In Cab Of Flaming Truck Crash
A 13 year old Ohio City boy Dean Carr was burned to death after becoming trapped in the cab of a truck that burst into flames following a collision with a car near Lima. Tracey Loveday 46 of Monroe Michigan the other driver also died. Melvin Agler 23 driver of the truck was pulled from the wreck by a passing motorist who heard him scream for help to save the boy. Several hogs in the back of the truck perished in the fire.

Ohio's Dreamhouse Pagoda Rises on Wellington Lawn
William Haden and wife built a real pagoda named The Ling Foy two miles north of Wellington on Route 58 after a dream inspired project. Completed in 1949 with help from Charles Olsen, the octagonal structure cost about 2500 in labor and materials and features three tiered curved roofs and a final globe atop. The couple, long collectors of oriental antiques and magicians, use the pagoda as storage for their East themed treasures and proudly recount its origin and handmade spikes.
