Lorain faces potential push to switch to cart program
If commissioners reject the plan, the Ohio EPA could step in with a less favorable grant funding framework. Allied may raise rates in nonswitching communities as automation spreads. The policy would roll out without pilot programs or incentive grants, per sources including consultant Mike Greenberg and Kidder. Contact Brad Dicken at 329-7147.

Alpacas seized from Huntington farm over neglect and charges
Dailey, a registered sex offender, used the Huntington Township farmhouse as his address. Deputies found five undernourished alpacas in a cramped feces laden pen with little room to move and nails nearly grown together. Two fleas infested dogs roamed the yard as temperatures neared 90 degrees. The animals were seized or moved to another alpaca farm in Lorain County with two dead alpacas found on a burn pile behind the garage. Charges were filed by Oberlin Municipal Court prosecutors last month.
