Disabled LCT riders cry foul over delays in Elyria

Dottie Six of Elyria voiced frustration after a Wal-Mart visit as she waited an hour and a half in a wheelchair for a Dial-A-Ride bus for a medical appointment. Other disabled riders, including a blind woman with a guide dog, shared similar complaints. County commissioners recently took over transit operations and push for overhaul with a consultant's recommendations. Vorhees of Avon Lake Meadow Vistas called the system a “horror story” with rides needing 12 days advance notice and no guaranteed availability.

Elyria’s Jason LaPlante, 21, heads to the Olympic Games next month after training at McDonald’s since age 15. The Grafton native, an East Broad Street and Abbe Road employee, was the sole county McDonald’s flyer representative in Athens. At 20 air bags save lives still after 1997 crash

Terri Vacher, 38, of Fullerton California, credits an air bag and seat belt for saving her life and her unborn child after a 1997 freeway collision with a jackknifed truck. She says the incident convinced her that air bags save lives, a view shared by roughly 15,000 people government estimates have saved.

Toddler Rescued From Overturned Car On Route 303

Four month old Andrew Wise of Wakeman was pulled from a Ford Contour that overturned on Route 303 near Hawley Road. Driver Jeffery Wise, 24, of Wakeman, and the infant were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Andrew was treated and released. Rescuers in a Bradley residence yard and bystander Noreen Hoffman aided the scene as Ohio Highway Patrol investigates.
