In a lengthy session the Elyria Board of Education approved site development bids for five city schools and new district boundaries for Franklin Gates Hamilton and McKinley. They accepted two resignations and approved six new teachers, adopted updated textbooks, reviewed landscaping drawings, and set bid deadlines for August 13 1951.
Elyria residents learn the revised boundaries for Franklin Gates Hamilton and McKinley districts will take effect in fall 1951. Superintendent L N Nicholas notes borders determine school admission for the 1951 52 year and that no pupil redistribution will be needed when new Franklin and Eastern Heights buildings are finished.
Partly cloudy and warm today then cloudy with showers and cooler conditions by Wednesday evening. High this afternoon around 86 with a low tonight near 64. The five day outlook calls for near normal temperatures, cooler Thursday and Friday, and a warm end of week with occasional showers. Total rainfall expected about one and a half inches. Mrs Edna Behnke 68 died at St Elizabeth Hospital Lincoln after July 4 automobile crash that killed her brother in law Mr Nelson Betterly of Indianapolis. Husband Howard L Behnke Jr hospitalized with broken leg and other injuries. Survived by two sons Clyde and Howard Jr and daughter Mrs Harold Blake. Body sent to Elyria for funeral arrangements pending.
The Lorain County Grange Officers Association plans a quarterly meeting next Monday evening July 16 at Oberlin Grange hall on South Main Street. After opening ceremonies, attendants will form groups by office for problem discussions and a first time round table on topics of interest to members. President Deane S. Kintner of North Elyria grange chairs, with Hubert Marty of Hickory Tree grange Amherst as secretary-treasurer.
Public meeting set in Elyria council chamber at 7 30 p m July 19 to discuss a proposed Ridgeville water line. Service Director D W Kothe and Councilman Walter Wisniski will lead the session with Ridgeville representatives and County Commissioners Oscar G Dunn and R J Fortney present. The plan calls for mortgage revenue bonds repaid over 40 years from project earnings, with early payoff possible if earnings suffice. Elyria would supply water via a master meter at city limits and establish a water utility to install, service, and bill customers. outside sales and long term commitments are debated. Commissioners must decide if the city will commit to supplying water for the bond period before further action.
Miss Lois I Littleton a Spanish and English teacher at Elyria High retires after 21 years in the district. Her resignation was accepted by the Elyria Board of Education. A replacement, Bernard Witsberger, 29, to succeed her, is named along with other new hires.
U S Attorney Saypol seeks to revoke $181000 bail posted by the Civil Rights Congress for 17 indicted Communist leaders. He moves to bar the left wing group from future bail activity. Hammett and Hunton jailed for contempt after refusing to identify bail sponsors.
Series from the Standard Times outlines the two and a half year purge by the Chinese Communist regime. It cites official and partisan sources to claim more than 15 million Chinese have perished through famine, war, and purges, with executions witnessed in Chungking and nationwide terror used to maintain power.
The body of Pvt. Carlos I. Hanchett will arrive Wednesday at 6 48 p m in Grafton with a military escort. He enlisted March 10 1948 and was killed in Korea on August 12 last year. He leaves a mother Mrs John Oberg Wellington R D 2 four brothers Lorer David Paul and Mike and a sister Sherrell. Graveside services are set for 2 p m Thursday at Nesbett cemetery with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3341 and Post 451 of Lorain in charge.

Frank Thomas Isaac aged 16 was killed early today after he and two companions looted a Mansfield pool room of 18 packages of cigarets. The pool hall proprietor Orville W. Inscore reported firing at the trio to Richland County Sheriff E. T. Long.

U S warplanes downed a Russian built jet for the fifth time in four days over North Korea. A US Army communique reported light to moderate enemy resistance along most of the front with sizeable action near Yanggu.

Lorain County approves a Grade A milk ordinance aligning with U S Public Health Service standards. Starting Jan 1 all dairies in the county and the cities Elyria and Lorain must meet sanitation rules. many area dairies already comply and nearby counties and Cleveland have similar regulations. Public health officials note all dairies selling to county dairies fall under the rule.
