Older workers find work again at Wal-Mart in tight labor market
Vince Anth aged 76 and Rick Roedel returned to employment at Wal-Mart, joining a broader shift as companies recruit older Americans to fill vacancies. Experts say 55 plus workers are rising in the labor force and may reach one in six jobs by decade's end as baby boomers stay employed for income or enjoyment. Anth, from Kirkwood, left the county circuit court staff in 1991 and now works 40 hours a week at Wal-Mart, saying he would work more if allowed.

Scientists study world’s first photograph at Getty
Scientists began the first scientific analysis of Niepce’s 1826 image since its rediscovery. The 8 by 6.5 inch pewter plate shows a farm building, pear and poplar trees, and a dove cote. Experts note the plate’s good preservation, plan to restore the frame and build a new airtight case, and say the study may elevate Niepce to father of photography.

Aging-in-place remodels gain steam as boomers age
Alan and Julie Stewart, in their 80s, widened doorways and removed stairs to age proof their Denver home. The couple chose retrofit remodeling over moving, part of a broader trend toward aging in place as seniors seek an active lifestyle and safer, more accessible living spaces. Builders note demand for integrated amenities in place of institutional designs.
