Two Elyrians Seriously Injured in Car Crash
Two Elyrians, James Howe and his wife Cornelia, were severely injured in a collision near Cart Yale, Pennsylvania, last Saturday. James Howe, 1918 Middle Avenue, suffers a possible broken back, while Cornelia Howe has a broken collarbone and a broken arm. A Cleveland woman Alma Shank 20 3375 West 30th Street and Fireman William Burnett were saved after a river rescue at Black River when a lifeboat capsized during the effort. Shank said she fell from the East Broad Street bridge while inspecting a blister on her foot. Firemen Jack Dillman and William Pitkin aided by rope and lines pulled both to shore. Burnett swam in full clothing to reach safety and was reported none the worse. Shank is the mother of three and staying with her parents in town. her husband was due to visit.
