City facing '81 deficit and income tax hike eyed

Jury Ponders Lorain Probe Fate in Housing Funds
The special grand jury probing $354,000 in Lorain housing grant spending will reconvene on Thursday to decide whether to continue the probe or drop it. Judge Paul J. Mikus said the plan was set at a July 3 meeting with two other general division judges and jury foreman Dean Hitchens. Prosecutor Joseph Granda, who requested the inquiry after FBI findings and reports of alleged improper expenditures, was a Democratic primary candidate who lost to attorney Peneer on June 3.
