Testing program change approved for Lorain County districts
Lorain County's seven districts will adopt the California Achievement Test for grades 2 4 6 and 8 next year at a total initial cost of 5978 plus 5000 for scoring. Supt Wayne Whyte says the test is more usable and supports competency testing while not affecting promotion decisions. Districts already using the California test include Elyria Lorain and North Ridgeville.

Hearing set on county budget for Lorain County

Parks Seek 5000 For Payroll Shortfall
North Ridgeville finance committee proposed a 5000 appropriation to cover payroll for the parks and recreation department. The department will be 4800 short this month after hiring four extra summer workers to keep South Central Park and its concession stand open full time. If not approved, several of the 17 summer staff may be laid off. Funding would come from the Park and Recreation Improvement Fund financed by a 200 fee for each new home.
