Postmaster Cod. Sartor released a report showing Elyria stamp sales totaled 97 790.11 dollars for the year so far, with money orders amounting to 80 202 sent in the first x months of the year. War bond sales surged after Pearl Harbor, totaling 312 825 dollars at the local post office from December 7 to July 2.
Ohio's relief rolls dropped to about 31 000 names in the latest month, the second straight month under 1 million dollars in total relief spending. State Welfare Director Charles L. Sherwood notes many listed as marginal workers due to partial disabilities and reduced capacity for work.

A second blue rescue squad for Elyria under Civitan Defense will be formed with a meeting Thursday at Pac Station No.3 on Lake Avenue. One squad with 30 men is already active at Fire Station No.3. west side men meet at 7 p.m. Those interested should register. organizers aim for 25 or more. Chief Bates leads the squads with Hugh D. Greer as chief and George Kimbel as assistant. East and west sides will meet separately each tire, with a joint monthly gathering.

Fred C. Robinson, 44, was bound to the grand jury under $4 bond yesterday after arraignment before Mayor C. R. Comings of Oreslin on a charge of nonpayment of support for his three children. Notices were mailed today to prospective jurors for a new jury year, with 300 names to be drawn from election poll lists. Elinor Gaumen filed for divorce from Clifford South Amherst alleging cruelty. they wed in 1937 and have two children. A Lorain man filed an appeal in common pleas court after a Lorain municipal court verdict finding him guilty of driving under the influence. Perry L Knapp, 45, died in Wellington on August 12, 1945 when a cable broke during excavation work. the village filed suit through Knapp’s administrator. A separate suit involved a widow and others in a garage incident.
