Workmen uncovered the original foundation of Cahokia courthouse built in 1716 the oldest structure in the Middle West plans to restore it on its historic site after moving from Jackson Park Chicago The log cabin courthouse marks Cahokia as county seat for a large early Illinois region and has a history through French British and American control.

A rare first edition of Sir Walter Raleigh History of the World, printed in 1614, has been found in the San Jose State College library by Dr James Wood. Only eight copies are known, with other extant copies at Oxford, British Museum, Huntington, Cambridge, and Dublin libraries.

Rooster Laments Losses As He Cares For Chicks
In Richland Center Wisconsin a guinea rooster has endured two wives dying and now cares for both broods. Last year Victoria Kinyon’s hen hatched ten chicks but was killed, leaving the rooster to raise them. This year a new mate joined as the hen laid eggs and was struck by a car, leaving the rooster to care for the nest again. Jack Jones’s play Land of My Fathers about unemployed miners is produced in London.
