On Middle Avenue in front of the county jail, McClain attempted to start his car with a broken crank shaft, drawing deputies who found a half pint bottle of liquor and a larger bottle empty in a traveling bag he claimed to carry for someone else. Haldeman Fails In Attempt For a New Record
Captain George Haldeman and co pilot Stuart Chadwick attempted a non refueling flight in a Bellanca monoplane named Teen. Would-be Bandit Turns Philanthropist After Cash Grab
Sheriff searches Huntington Center for a youth who entered Virgil Vincent’s store, asked for a sandwich, produced a gun, and fled after a failed robbery. Vincent, who fired three times with a malfunctioning gun, chased the bandit toward a waiting car and lost only ten cents and a five dollar bill from the attempted theft.
