Ohio motorists dodge 1 cent fuel tax rise this month
Ohio motorists escape a planned 1 cent per gallon tax increase as part of the state gasoline levy, but the Department of Transportation faces a budget cut of up to 44 million dollars for fiscal year 1993. Revenue shortfalls from lower fuel consumption and slumping gas sales will force revisions to the ODOT budget and delay or alter planned road projects.

Colleges given chance to comment on cuts
Columbus AP The administration of Gov. George Voinovich says state universities have been given a chance to comment on state issues including budget cuts affecting campuses. Spokesman John Meyer noted steps similar to Ohio State University President E Gordon Gee who proposed a special commission to advise Voinovich. Officials from state aided universities took part in panels advising on science and other topics. Higher education has already been part of this. Gee's proposal followed $315.7 million in spending cuts ordered by Voinovich last Wednesday.
