Mental Ills Of Aged Called Curable

Dr. Robert C. McMillan of Chicago told the Illinois State Medical Society that many mental disturbances in old age are neuroses and curable if labeled separately from senility. He cited fears of losing independence and identity, changing family dynamics, and shifts in home and friends as key underlying factors. Physical changes and degenerative psychoses are less common and less treatable.
