Art teachers and church groups foster school arts program
In Benoni and nearby towns, teachers and church committees coordinated after an annual art display at Methodist and Second Congregational churches. Finances were in good shape with most expenses covered, a small treasury balance for next year, and new committees appointed for curriculum, finance, and personnel. A Boston casualty-typing method from the Cocoanut Grove disaster was adopted by New England Civilian Defense for future use, enabling streamlined victim home reporting from hospitals and shelters.

Rev. George Carroll of Maryknoll shared experiences from 177 days of internment in Korea after the Pacific war outbreak. He described crowded living, scarce food, and a later exchange voyage aboard the Gripsholm to Swedish waters.
