Lorain man dies in car crash on Smith Road
Daniel O. Velez 77 of Lorain died after his 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier struck a utility pole on Smith Road in Litchfield Township about 6 pm. Nerida Silva 58 of Lorain, a passenger, was critical at MetroHealth Medical Center. Both wore seat belts, no alcohol indicated. Velez had heart condition and recently left a local hospital.
