Unemployment rate falls amid rising oil costs in June

The unemployment rate dropped to 5.6 percent in June, the lowest in nearly five years, while wholesale prices rose 0.5 percent led by petroleum. The OPEC price hike of 25 percent is blamed for inflation risk and potential job losses, with 800,000 anticipated to be cut and inflation raised by 2 to 2.5 percentage points. Total employment rose 440,000 to 96.8 million. The decline in teen unemployment drove most of the drop.
