Lorain County Prosecutor J D Tomlinson paid 24750 to two former employees Nicole Janik and Jennifer Scott in 2022 and 2021 amid a district wide job audit tied to FMLA leave and job description changes. A 6 year old boy identified as Jaxson Dvorak died after a dog attack on East 31st Street in Lorain. Police said the incident remains under investigation with no charges filed. The APL took in three adults and six puppies, with the adults to be euthanized and tested for rabies.

Lorain City School District voters will see a five year 4.97 mill permanent improvement levy on the November ballot. It would raise about 3.5 million annually, 17.7 million over the term, to fund maintenance for 14 aging buildings and create a maintenance reserve. The funds cannot be used for salaries.
