Vietnam veteran finds courage and purpose in life

Roger Jackson, a Vietnam Marine and paraplegic, speaks of living “one day at a time” after a 1966 mortar attack near the DMZ that severed his spinal cord. Evacuated to the Repose, his condition and journey through Great Lakes Naval Hospital shaped decades of volunteering with Elyria VFW Post 1079 and veterans groups. He honors fallen friend Gilbert Feliciano, born July 4, and remains active in DAV, MOC, AMVETS, and disability causes.
