U S to offer new offshore oil leases in Gulf area
The Bush administration will sell Lease Sale 181 offshore in about 1.5 million acres of the Gulf of Mexico, starting next December. Interior Secretary Gale Norton says the area is 100 miles from Florida Alabama and Mississippi coasts and holds about 185 million barrels of oil and 1.25 trillion cubic feet of gas.
