Free Clinic in Lorain Treats Medically Indigent Patients
The Lorain County Free Clinic operates in the basement of Christ Evangelical Church, offering care to about 45 to 55 new patients monthly. Dr Paul Birney notes many patients have poorly controlled conditions due to socioeconomic factors. Delores Martinez, 56, is among 1,900 seen last year, relying on the clinic for medicines and affordability. The clinic faces rising pharmacy costs and plans a dental program in fall and potential optometry services if funding allows.
