Avon Lake approves three union contracts with police fire
Avon Lake City Council approved three new collective bargaining agreements with FOP Lodge 25 and Avon Lake Firefighters Local 1361 plus a tentative deal with steel workers. The deals include 2 percent annual raises for three years and employees paying 10 percent of health insurance costs. Firefighters gain new command roles and a reorganized ladder structure while trimming lieutenant positions. Mayor Greg Zilka said the package is revenue neutral and improves department efficiency.
