Sheffield Lake motorcyclist dies in lane crash
A 39 year old Sheffield Lake man died Friday after his motorcycle collided with a van at Grove Avenue and Fairless Drive around noon. Jack R Hill was pronounced dead at Lorain St Joseph Hospital. Police said no charges filed yet as investigators review the case. Hill, born May 5 1939 in Thorpe WV, moved to Sheffield Lake 40 years ago. He worked at Ford Lorain and served in Korea. Survived by wife Elisabeth A Hill, mother Mae Hill, son Jack Ray Jr, and sister Delores Miller. Visitation Sunday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Walter A Frey Funeral Home. funeral Monday at 1 p.m. Burial Ridge Hill Memorial Park.

Man charged with Matek murder returns to Maine
Robert W. S. Salo, charged with the strangulation death of Barbara Matek, 29, a 1967 Elyria Catholic graduate, was returned to Rockland Maine at 1 15 a m to face arraignment. He surrendered to Indiana police Tuesday night and is held in Knox County Jail pending court appearance. Matek body was found in a wooded area along the Atlantic coast near Rockland after a tip from a driver. She had been a special education teacher with Summit County MHMR and buried after a funeral Mass at St Jude’s Church.
