Ohio Bell Faces High Prices in Rate Case Brief

July 1 Ohio Bell will file a brief with the Public Utilities Commission alleging Western Electric supplied equipment at unreasonably high prices. The state argues inflated valuations raise rates and that the American Telephone and Telegraph Company profits are boosted by service fees masked as transfers. Attorney General Turner expects investigations to reveal market dominance by Western Electric and will seek rate reductions affecting subscribers across nearly all Ohio counties.
