Four Elyria part-timers laid off amid city budget cuts
Four part time city workers in Elyria were laid off as the city faces a larger than expected deficit. Mayor Bill Grace said the general fund could be cut by about 3 million dollars, nearly 10 percent of the budget, with further reductions anticipated across departments. Police Chief Michael Medders warned a 6 percent cut could mean 11 officers laid off and major reductions in the records room and drug unit.

Lorain Schools weigh ballot options to cover deficit
