Mayor seeks bonds to fix city’s 400 million in repairs
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson will ask City Council for 50 million dollars in bonds to address more than 400 million dollars of needed city building repairs across 192 municipal structures. A backlogged 31 million for 27 fire facilities adds to delays. The plan aims to accelerate closings and upgrades, as staff and funding remain insufficient. In Ohio, Burr Oak State Park lodge near Glouster will close this week, costing about 40 jobs after an initial temporary shutdown to study finances.

Catholic bishops urge action over contraception mandate
In a Catholic response to the health coverage requirement, church leaders say they will not comply with contraception abortion drugs or sterilization coverage. Schnurr calls the decision a heavy blow and urges parishioners to pray fast and contact Congress to reverse the mandate. Sebelius says the proposal balances religious freedom with broader preventive care access, noting non profits like church hospitals colleges and social service agencies are subject to the rule with an extra year to comply.
