Hostages’ Homecoming Sparks Nationwide Celebrations
Indiana lawmakers sang America the Beautiful and thousands prayed as Illinois gave all students the day off to honor the 52 freed hostages. Festivities spread from New York to Texas with ticker tape parades, church services, and promises to move on from 444 days captivity. Some ex-hostages faced seclusion while others enjoyed the homecoming, including Marine Sgt Kevin Hermening who helped his brother with a paper route at dawn.

He aims to abolish Energy and Education, weighs draft options, and plans federal help for Atlanta youths cases.
